A. Brown

This site was created for anyone who is interested in inquiring the works of Ashley Brown. As an artist of many different genres, my Art Movement is about releasing the creativity that separates my art from others.
As a dancer, I have been trained at the Roanoke Ballet Theatre in Roanoke, Virginia. I was trained in modern, and hip-hop as well as some ballet. In addition, I have had personal instructors in African and hip-hop dance. I have been dancing for fourteen years and doing choreography for seven years. As a choreographer, my style of dance is a combination of Modern, African and Hip-hop dance styles. This peculiar combination is a result of years of training in those specific genres of dance. In addition, I chose to combine these three techniques, to allow me to base my dance moves on the up-tempo and the slow-tempo of the music. In addition, I can take advantage of static movements as well as movements that flow. My training in these varieties of dance, has allowed me to find an eccentric style that separates my choreography from others.
As a painter, I use is Acrylic as well as oil paints, and I have not ventured outside of those mediums yet. However, the way I choose to create a painting is the creative part. My paintings are created by first taking a digital picture and transferring the information to Adobe photoshop. I then distort the image and paint the final outcome. This method has proved to bring the most creativity out of me as a painter. As a poet, I have been influenced by the wonderful works of Nikki Giovanni and Walt Whitman. I was also very intrigued by Edgar Allen Poe while growing up. My style of poetry varies in format and type. It is usually written after a heighten in my emotional state of being. It allows me to be truthful to myself.
As a female actor, I have been involved in high school, and college performances. I am studying theatre presently, and plan to continue performing. I have plans to extend my acting beyond theatre. I have done many one acts that included “Angels in America” and “For Colored girls who have considered suicide when the rainbow was not enough,” just to name a few.
As an artist of many genres I do not plan to limit myself to anything. I will continue to expand and release my creativity in all fields of art.
